Callahan recently completed Post @ 200 Smith Street, a renovation and expansion of an office and industrial building into a 395,000 square-foot first class creative office complex. The project is owned by Anchor Line Partners and designed by CBT Architects.

The completion was celebrated on May 1st with a Derby Day Celebration! The event included a craft food bar, performers on stilts, a jockey handing out long stem roses and a “race” where the winner won a trip to the Kentucky Derby!

Callahan is continuing participation in its Constructing Communities initiative with Quincy High School following its launch of the latest installment last year. The partnership aims to inspire the next generation of engineers, architects and builders by providing invaluable real world experience.

This year, Callahan provided lessons to HVAC students on cooling and heating processes on-site at Elevation Apartments at Crown Colony, a multifamily project in Quincy, that Callahan is building for the John Flatley Company. The students were taught directly by the on-site foreman from Macormack Plumbing and Heating. The program included three site visits for students at Crown Colony with the opportunity for some of the students to participate in a summer co-op with Callahan.

On May 7th, Callahan participated, for the second year in a row, in the 11th Annual National Women Who Build Week with South Shore Habitat for Humanity and Lowes in honor of National Women Build Week. The Callahan team spent the day helping to build decent and affordable housing to help families achieve stability. This year the home was located in Duxbury, MA and was ready for a deserving family to move in on June 24th!

Callahan has won a Gold Level Safety, Training, and Evaluation Process (S.T.E.P) Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Massachusetts, the state’s largest commercial construction association, and the Gould Construction Institute (GCI), ABC’s training affiliate, for the 11th consecutive year. The award was presented at the 14th Annual ABC/GCI Safety & Education Dinner on May 17th at the Burlington Marriott in Burlington, MA.

S.T.E.P. is a national ABC program that provides safety benchmarking and improvement tools that have been shown to dramatically improve safety performance among participating companies.  Established in 1969, S.T.E.P. was developed and written by contractors, for contractors. Companies measure their safety performance and policies through a review of 20 key components with a goal of enhancing safety programs and reducing job-site incident rates.

S.T.E.P. Awards are presented annually to ABC member companies with exceptional safety records and this year’s applicant pool was very competitive, with 58 companies recognized for their outstanding commitment to job-site safety. Applicants are evaluated on a number of statistical factors such as incident rates, lost time and OSHA recordables. The S.T.E.P. Awards banquet is ABC/GCI’s premier annual event.
